Plans and Prices

The Scout Alarm does not have a fixed plan. In fact, you can customize your entire security system. The Hub, the main component of your equipment, is mandatory for your system to work. But on top of that, you can add sensors and other devices. Note that their equipment roster is limited in options, but they have everything necessary to keep your home safe.

Scout has two monitoring options. They also have some already made equipment packages if you don’t feel like customizing your Scout home. First, we’ll go through the pre-made packages, and then we will analyze the monitoring options.

Scout Small Pack Review

This pack contains everything you need to start small but still secure your home. If it’s your first time buying a security system and you’re still unfamiliar with how it works or if it’s worth it for you, then we recommend this pack. You can always add more equipment to your Scout home security system later on.

1 Motion Sensor

These sensors are triggered when they detect motion. They have infrared sensors, so they are able to detect activity at night, and they have a field view of 90 degrees. They are easy to set up, and since they’re wireless, you can place them virtually anywhere.

1 Door Panel

This device monitors the opening and closing of doors. This Scout product also has an alarm siren that will sound off when the alarm is triggered and welcome any intruders with an ear-piercing sound. You can also get notifications when this sensor picks something up and receive them on your phone.

2 Access Sensors

These sensors can be placed anywhere: not just on doors and windows, but on liquor cabinets or other places you don’t want kids getting into. They’re triggered when they sense someone opening your secured door, window, or cabinet. Once this happens, you will get a notification on your phone telling you what’s being opened in real time.

2 Key Fobs

These are super convenient devices—you can use them to arm and disarm your Scout Security system—and you can attach a fob to your keys and carry it with you wherever you go.

1 Yard Sign

This piece of equipment might not be fancy, but it’s your first line of defense. Chances are that when burglars case your home, they decide to look the other way if they see right from the start that your home has an active security system.

Scout Large Pack Review

This contains the exact same equipment as the small pack, only here, the number of devices increases.

Scout Element Pack Review

This pack is for folks who want more than just that basic security that covers entry points and detects motion. Here, you have some new devices in addition to the standard ones. Let’s take a look at the extra equipment in this Scout home security pack.

1 Smoke/CO Detector

Not only is this device fitted with a siren, but it sends real-time notifications to your phone in case of an emergency. It also immediately notifies the monitoring center, so they can send out the fire department.

1 Water Sensor

This devices helps you protect your home from water damage. It’s capable of detecting a leak the moment it starts. You can place it in the basement or under a sink. It’s better to catch a leak before any serious damage occurs to your home (and wallet).

Scout Architect Pack Review

We recommend this pack for people who know exactly what they want in their security system. It is a bit pricey for a starting cost, but it’s considerably affordable for the amount of equipment you get when compared to other companies. Let’s see what new equipment comes in this ScoutAlarm package.

1 Smart Lock

You can forget about your keys and the mini heart attack you get when you leave home and forget if you locked the door or not. With the smart lock, you can use your phone to lock and unlock your door remotely. It’s tamper resistant and has a keypad where the numbers light up for easy access at night.

1 Glass Break Sensor

This device has a 15-foot sensing radius, and it can detect the sound and vibrations of breaking glass. It’s great to place on sliding doors or in rooms with multiple windows. The Scout glass break sensor also connects to your monitoring system, so if ever glass breaks, you and your monitoring center will be notified.

Scout Monitoring

There are two options to choose from: the Always On and the Always On+. You can opt out of paying for either of these, but then you won’t be able to use the app and receive notifications; and if you ask us, there’s no point in security if you can’t know when someone tries to break in when you don’t have any remote control. Don’t worry, Scout has one of the cheapest monitoring fees out there, and they are really good.

About the Company

This company is relatively new to the market. It all started in 2013 in Chicago, Illinois, when they came up with the idea to offer people great security and monitoring at an affordable price. They offer high-tech equipment with home automation capabilities. Even though there aren’t lots of devices to choose from, they offer everything you need to feel safe and in control of your smart Scout home.

Their devices integrate well with third-party devices, so you aren’t bound to using their devices exclusively, and they don’t trap you with long contracts. With Scout you can pay month to month, and if you pay for a year in advance, they’ll give you a month for free. Their system is 100% customizable, easy to install, and user friendly.

Mobile App

This is incredibly useful if you travel a lot or are not home for a long time, even if you feel like just checking in to see what’s going on inside your home. The Scout Alarm wireless home security system lets you check in on your home from any location at any time.

Not only can you do a general check-in, but you can also keep track of sensors separately and know exactly when your kids came home from school and whether they touched the liquor cabinet while you were gone. You can also arm and disarm your security system through your phone—so when you pull into the driveway, disarm the system, and when you leave, just arm it back up.

DIY Installation

The concept behind Scout Alarm DIY home security was intended to make things easy for you. Scout applies the peel-and-stick method, and all their equipment is wireless, so you don’t have to renovate your home or drill holes in walls to accommodate the devices. The biggest benefit about being able to install the system yourself is that you don’t have to spend money on professional installers, and you can place your devices exactly where you want them.

Contract

There is no contract! Scout accepts payments on a month-to-month basis, which means no complicated papers and hidden clauses. This is great if you are just starting with your Scout Alarm system and you aren’t sure if it’s what you want. Their prices are also extremely affordable, so you won’t have to sacrifice much to afford great home security. There is also on option to pay for a month in advance—if you do, you get one month free.

24/7 Professional Monitoring

If you go for the Always On+ monitoring option, you’ll have the luxury of knowing a team of professionals is watching your back. No matter which alarm or device is triggered, not only will you be notified, but so will the monitoring company. Once they see an alarm has been triggered, they’ll dispatch the police to investigate your residence. Scout monitoring is UL certified, which means they had to pass a rigorous test in order to be considered a trusted brand.

Scout’s Honor

Scout doesn’t just want to keep your home safe—they want to make sure you are 100% satisfied with their products and services. Because of this, they offer a money-back guarantee, a one-year warranty on equipment, and professional support. They want you to feel safe, reap the benefits of home automation, and be satisfied with their services, all for an affordable price.

100% Customization

They do have pre-made packages for those who aren’t sure how to equip their Scout Security system. However, for those of you who have an idea in mind or know exactly what you want, then you will love this freedom. You can mix and match products that have home automation capabilities. The Hub is the core of the system, and it’s a mandatory component. Everything else is optional, but if you have a bigger home, we recommend you get a door sensor for each door, not just the entrance.
