The official website underwent a redesign while keeping the most popular features easily accessible on the main page. So the old cyberdriveillinois.com is now ilsos.gov.
In his public address, the Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White said that the new address and redesign will help combat fraud.
A “.gov” Domain Extension Indicates an Official Government Website
A “.gov” domain extension is exclusive to public entities at the local, state, and federal levels, White stated in his news release. He explained the change of the website’s domain to ILSOS.gov will help prevent fraudulent activities at a time when thousands of scams intended to deceive Illinoisans have been growing.
White added that it will bring users peace of mind, especially when transacting business online with his office.
The Former Address Was cyberdriveillinois.com
Typing the old address into a browser will redirect users to the new address, where they will be greeted with a sign saying, “cyberdriveillinois.com is now ilsos.gov.”
Even though the website was redesigned, it still contains the features and functionalities that users need. They can quickly find info and start and finish procedures involving driver’s licenses, ID cards, license plate renewals, and much more.
This will reduce their risk of becoming a victim of one of the 611,000 phishing websites discovered in 2021.
Furthermore, the FTC recorded over 4.8 million identity thefts and frauds in 2020 alone.
